... as in “Definitely for green Earth.” There are more and more people getting very common and uncommon diseases and infections these days. The medical profession goes fast about it: Treat them with antibiotics. At times, this works. Sometimes, it fails.

CelebrateWoman (CW) Yvonne, how did it happen that you started your own company with the products that do not have any equivalent in the current market?

Yvonne Busbee (Yvonne) It all happen through a friendly introduction to a gentleman from Germany who created fiber with silver ions in them. It is no miracle that silver ions have antibacterial properties.

My husband and I saw a huge potential for a healthy living through usage of products made of such material. Besides, to produce such fibers is exceptionally – extremely – friendly on the eco system. That’s how our company XtremEarth came to life.

CW How did your new company changed your life: What was it life before and after?

Yvonne Before it was Nursing School, Accounting School, two kids to take care of. Life was extremely busy. Little did I know what to expect from me being an owner of the company!

The company got started in 2006. There was a lot of testing and product development that had to be done. But the goal of getting this functional fiber out into this world was really strong.

What makes this fiber different is that during its  patented manufacturing process silver ions are infused into its structure. These ions have antibacterial and temperature controlling (conductivity) properties. Plus, they do not escape by washing out the fabrics in which they are woven. The fibers itself

Being a nurse and knowing a huge need for products that could help patients to get a quicker recovery avoiding additional infection from various surgical procedures drove me forward even more. One little change like robes with antimicrobial properties for medical personnel and patients could be a huge step in improving recovery rates in our hospitals.

CW Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

Yvonne My husband is a very creative person. I met him before we started XtremEarth. His visionary leadership helped us to navigate through the many obstacles.

My nursing background and knowledge of the medical field helped to propel our company into many uses of these incredible functional fibers.

My family has been always my driving force for everything I have achieved so far. My daughter and grandson are amazing inspiration to me for so many ideas I put into my business.

CW Has your involvement with XtremEarth products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family and friends?

Yvonne Building this company from scratch made me feel of a great potential of touching so many lives. As a nurse, I’m always meeting patients and see their health problems. I’m always in that compassion mode of resolving their situation successfully.

The functional fibers could be a direct answer of helping and improving quality of life of many people with medical conditions and of those who are healthy. Using fabrics with functional fibers that have silver ions could be used in bed soars, E. coli, candida prevention. That all could be prevented without using any chemicals!

CW Is there anything that was a surprise to you that you did not expect on your way creating your company and products?

Yvonne A lot of beaurocracy of passing past ETA and FDA. For example, we need to specify in our testing that silver ions protect the product surface (like towels, socks, etc.), not a person from microbial intrusion. It’s a huge surprise what we can and what we cannot claim on our products. That is why education plays a huge role in getting useful information out to masses.
CW Yvonne, how do you see XtremEarth will effect your life in the future?

Yvonne I would say I see potential of changing how people live their daily lives. I already see a lot of benefits of using my own products at home.

I use no detergent on the towels and clothes made with functional fibers. If they are really, really soiled, then I use a small cap of natural detergent during a washing cycle.

All the towels in my bathrooms and in the kitchen are my company’s products. Less germs on the body and kitchen counters and floors! I love it! I already see my life changing having living it in a healthier, cleaner, germs-less way.

CW What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about XtremEarth products?

Yvonne The Number 1 thing is a combination of two things: Sustainability and functionality of our products. There’s no product in the current market that has such a variety of uses with antimicrobial properties for a lot of industries like medical, agricultural, confection and many more.

Silver ions keep the surfaces they touch clean and fresh.

I also call our functional fibers “climate changing fibers” as the clothes made out of it regulate body temperature: keeping it warm or cool depending on the weather.

CW If we talked to all of your friends and family, what would they tell us about you and your involvement with your company?

Yvonne That I follow my heart. All my decisions touch lives of people to help them and improve the quality of their lives. With XtremEarth products they can do it affordably and sustainably.

My biggest thing in life is to help.

CW What keeps you going day after day?

Yvonne I am a workaholic.The sheer excitement of getting closer to my goals gets me going and thriving each day.

Educating people in what this product with functional fibers can do for them in their everyday life is my goal. Once they know what it does, they make changes in their lives.

There’s so much do, I feel it’s just the beginning of my journey of helping people and improving the quality of their lives.

CW How do you celebrate your achievements, mistakes, and even failures?

Yvonne I celebrate by taking a vacation. It doesn’t have to be a long one. It may be just one day. But this time off allows me to step back and look at how close we’ve come and how great it feels in changing lives.

Looking at my grandson and teaching him about clean and fresh life feels fulfilling and refreshing. This company has made huge changes in the lives of my family.

Mistakes are celebrated by being acknowledged and moving forward without fear.

CW After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on the day, just before you go to sleep, what goes through your heart and mind?

Yvonne I feel thankful for blessings I was given. This opportunity, health of my family, and knowledge to be able to make right decisions, not just a ton of money make me feel happy and humble at the same time.

Julianna Shaw is an amazing leader in the movement of green, phthalates-free living. This working mom took an aggressive action in making her babies’ lives safe from chemicals, while enjoying the growth and popularity of ZoLi.

How in the world did she make it happen? Here’s a true story by Julianna herself.

CelebrateWoman (CW) What got you started on the path of developing ZoLi products?

Julianna Shaw (Julianna) After my first child was born, I found it really difficult to find products that were safe for the baby and that were functional, easy to use and attractive.

I’ve always been interested in and advocated for the environment. So it was natural that these interests applied to my newborn.

I was primarily concerned about the chemicals that could affect my baby, so became particularly interested in products that were free of the toxic chemicals – lead, PVC, BPA, phthalates, and similar.

By the time I had my second child, there still weren’t a lot of options.  After some thought, I figured it was time to put my business and marketing background to good use: 

Why not combine my passion to keep my child safe with my interest in great design. From there, ZoLi was born.

CW What was your life before you started this company ... and after ...?

Julianna Before ZoLi, I was immersed in the corporate world responsible for launching products and services for companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Safeway, Nestle, Oral-B, Wells Fargo and Hewlett Packard.

Like many working moms, each day was a balancing act – days were long with meetings, conference calls, and more meetings and evenings were all about the children.

Since starting ZoLi, I am still juggling between family and work but instead of doing it for someone else, I am doing it for myself. I now have more flexibility with my schedule, which means I can be more present for my children and be involved with their school and their activities.

Somehow, that difference and knowing that the products we are producing are safe and free of toxins makes it all the more rewarding.

CW Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

Julianna There are so many people that have influenced me in so many ways but when it comes to ZoLi, I would have to say my parents, husband and children.

My parents and my husband were the ones that first heard about my “crazy” idea, and they were the ones that gave me the courage to take the plunge. I never thought about being an entrepreneur, so it is their encouragement and support that enabled me to bring the vision of ZoLi to life.

My daughters – it was because of them that I became concerned about the types of products I was using for them and surrounding them with.  I wanted to create better products – ones that were free of all the bad stuff but that were still stylish enough that I wanted to use.

To this day, they are still my inspiration for wanting to create better products and do my part to help the environment.

CW Has your involvement with your ZoLi products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family, friends, romantic involvement?

Julianna Starting ZoLi has me wearing several hats, so it has stretched me both professionally and personally.  It has also deepened my relationships with my family and friends. 

Much like it takes a village to raise a child, starting a company does as well. I am eternally grateful for my family and friends who step in to help with the kids when I need to travel for work or when I’m running late from meetings.  They have been by my side, late into the evenings prepping gift bags, press kits or even helping me label packaging.

My husband is a co-founder of the company and it’s been great working side-by-side with him as we get ZoLi off the ground.

Many people ask how we get along seeing each other 24 / 7 … for me it’s been great. He is my best friend and the one I always turn to for advice when it comes to work situations. Now, it’s even easier talking to him about things because he’s there and knows exactly what I’m talking about and what we need to achieve.

CW If you had to do it all over again, would you? And why?

Julianna Absolutely! I have to be honest that being a mother and running my own business is a crazy balancing act. But, it’s exciting and challenging all at the same time.

ZoLi is a combination of two great passions, and I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to tie the two together – making products that keep children safe and that help parents care for them well.

Hail Merry Hypothesis and Living It Out Loud

Rejuvenation – for both skin, body, mind – is always at the top of your and my thoughts. The difficulty comes in committing yourself to, and genuinely making a decision to do something positive for ourselves.

Having three kids and approaching the spot in life when self-fulfillment and living healthy inside-out do make a difference, this heroic woman with a bold name Susan O’Brien introduced herself to the Hail Merry hypothesis. And then took action.

Oh, you are not familiar with such a trendy hypothesis? Let me share with you Susan O’Brien’s adventure and her Hail Merry experience.

What got started Susan on the way of personal rejuvenation is a personal challenge to eat raw. After being a busy mom and having a career in design, one day she had her mind set on green and raw living. That’s where the Hail Merry hypothesis begins.


CelebrateWoman (CW) Susan, what got you started on the path of developing your own raw products?

Susan O’Brien (Susan) For a long time, I wanted to change my life patterns and rejuvenate from inside out. What can I do to stay and feel young in mind and body? Without a delay, I went on a master cleanse for two-and-a-half weeks. Finishing it was a major accomplishment for me.

Raw eating was a natural transition to real tastes in fruit, veggies, grains, herbs. Eating healthy meals daily for eight-nine months in a row showed me true results of living a healthy, energy-ful, and joyful life. Everything inside of me was improving.

It is at that time, when I was experimenting with a zillion of new ingredients and tastes, the hypothesis of Hail Merry was born: What if all of us could eat such delicious foods without spending too much time preparing it?

Hail Merry proved excellent results in health and rejuvenation for me. Hail Merry is a proven hypothesis that raw foods can and do taste great, and can be easily available to anyone who is eager to journey into reality of new fresh tastes.

CW Susan, what was your life before you started Hail Merry ... and after ...?

Susan I had a busy career in medical lab design for hospitals. It was great and was part of my journey where I’m today.

But I always wanted to be in control of my own destiny. Being employed, I was always faced with politics. That is why the name Hail Merry represents so much ‘girl power,’ ‘independence,’ and ‘life with perks.’ That’s where the name of the company comes from.

The whole philosophy behind a concept and products of Hail Merry is the connection of mind and body, and soul. I’m not a religious person, rather I am a very spiritual person.

Experiencing so many wonderful results in my own body and soul by eating raw, I wanted to expand that concept to many more people outside just myself. That’s how Hail Merry materialized from my eating raw and having my whole body healed and starting performing like I was eighteen again. Eating raw does help to bring mind on board for the body to perform, and for a person to live her dream.

CW Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

Susan My dear husband Steve is an amazing marketing brain. From him, I learned what makes a great Brand work and function like a natural organism. He mentored me on all things “brand.” I am very thankful and fortunate for having him in my live.

CW Susan, has your involvement with Hail Merry products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family, friends, romantic involvement?

Susan For sure. Kids respect me for what I do and share with other people. Having my own company taught me to be realistic in what I create and sell.

As for self-image, I always wanted to create something of my own, experiment with a lot of new things. Hail Merry gave me an opportunity of a life-time to embark on a journey of reaching goals and enjoy the process of doing so.

With all public exposure, however, I still am a very private person, protecting my family’s  personal life.

When you talk to this woman, attentive, soft, caring, one cannot stop wondering about her determination and immaculate sense of direction to lift this business from a clear idea to a huge success for fuzzi buns and their mothers.

It was tough. It was inspiring all the way to the top of the world.

But it started with an urgency to create an immediate relief for her infant son.

Here is the story of Tereson Dupuy, the creator of the very first – yes, The FIRST ever – FuzziBunz cloth diaper. The diaper that conquered the hearts and households of those moms who care about their babies and the planet Earth.

CelebrateWoman (CW) What got you started on the path of developing FuzziBunz?

Tereson Dupuy (Tereson) This was truly a product of necessity. My baby had diaper rash, I was disgusted with the old fashioned cloth diapers that were on the market and they still did not fix the rash. 

So, I took my textiles experience from college and put that to work finding a current material that would stay dry next to my son's skin while letting urine through. 

I knew instantly that this was a big idea and I began marketing the product and developing it right way. The rest is pretty much history.

CW What was your life before you started this company ... and after ...?

Tereson My life was as a stay at home mom. I had worked in a social work type atmosphere until my baby was 18 months old. Then I chose to leave that  life and be a full time mommy. 

My life since inventing FuzziBunz has truly been a whirlwind. The product took off almost immediately, and it continued to grow and grow. 

Now life is far more stable and calm. My children are older at 15, 11 and 8, and my business is far more established. Now I spend my time looking for ways to make the company better and helping others grow their own businesses and simply enjoying my children and my life.

CW Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

Tereson Well, my children and my drive to provide a great life for them were truly the driving force behind my will to succeed. 

There was always a bigger mission however, which was to bring what I felt was a great product to other parents and to make a difference in an industry that was ready for a change.

CW Has your involvement with your FuzziBunz products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family, friends, romantic involvement?

Tereson This is a very good question and the answer is yes and no.  My self image I can not say has changed, I am still the same person I was before I invented FuzziBunz. 

However, how people have related to me – especially in romantic situations – has been challenging. I tend to surround myself with a close circle of very good friends and close family.

CW If you had to do it all over again, would you? And why?

Tereson Absolutely.  I think there would be things I would do differently as they say hindsight is always twenty-twenty.  But yes, I would never think twice about doing it all over again.

CW Is there anything that was a surprise to you that you did not expect on your way creating your product?

Tereson I never thought FuzziBunz would be as successful as they are. And I never really thought that the cloth diaper industry would grow to the level that it has grown. But that is a very good thing.

CW How do you see your creation – FuzziBunz – will effect your life in the future?

Tereson No one can see into the future, but I would hope however that it will continue to grow. I will continue to bring new products to market under the FuzziBunz brand and continue to live a happy, free and a prosperous life.

CW What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about your FuzziBunz product?

Tereson Given the many many fleece pocket diapers that are on the market today, I would like people to recognize that I was the first to bring that concept to market and make way for everyone else to be successful with it. 

Fleece was never used in a cloth diapering product before FuzziBunz. Now it is in virtually every cloth diaper being made. I must have done something right there. 

So, while I appreciate a growing industry, I do like to be recognized for taking a chance with a different concept and taking all of the initial risks that were involved to educate the public that cloth diapers were cool again and worth giving a second look. 

I feel it is due to the hard work and pioneering that I did early on that so many are able to come up with a product and introduce it into a much more ready-to-listen public.

CW If we talked to All of your family and friends – imagine them in one room at the same time – what would you tell them about what you do? – What would they tell Me about your involvement with your company?

Tereson Well, my family and friends all know what I do. But if I had to say one thing is that it is not as easy as I make it look!  I don't get stressed out about much anymore, I just do what needs to be done. 

They would tell you that I treat my company like a fourth child and care deeply about every employee, retailer and customer that we have and try to do my utmost to make them happy.

CW What keeps you going day after day?

Tereson What keeps me going is the excitement that my life, career and children bring to me.  Every day is an adventure, and I always look for new ways to make life interesting.

CW How do you celebrate: your achievements; mistakes and miscalculations; and even failures?

Tereson I appreciate that every experience, whether good or bad, is a learning opportunity.  I don't believe in failure, only opportunities gained.

Now I am using my experiences, both good and bad, to help others hopefully not run into some of the same pitfalls I have. So it has all been worth it.

CW After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on the day, just before you go to sleep, what goes through your heart and mind?

Tereson Knowing that I did something good that day. I know that I have been a great mom, and that my children are proud of me.

RECAP: Mareya Ibrahim started the Eat Cleaner movement that uses Eat Cleaner to get rid of pesticides, wax, organic residues on the surface of fresh produce, fish, and poultry.

Mareya, an incredible business woman with a human touch and her passion for everything organic and sustainable, took her entrepreneurship seriously when it came to  market her newly developed product Eat Cleaner.

Passion for clean and decontaminated produce drove her efforts to find a way to make her invention available for you and me in the market place.

CelebrateWoman (CW) Mareya, is there anything that was a surprise to you that you didn’t expect on your way creating your product Eat Cleaner?

Mareya Ibrahim (Mareya) There were a few surprises in my business. One of the biggest is how long it takes to get simple answers from retailers. The bigger the retailer, the longer the time to get what you need to know. Smaller stores will get usually much faster with all of their information and answers to your questions.

Another surprise was that it took more money to develop a business than it was planned. That’s why a good solid business plan is a must for anybody who endeavors into building a company.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Talk to people who are pros, with experience. Consult with them. Fewer mistakes in the beginning will ensure your better-off in the future.

(CW) Mareya, how do you see your Eat Cleaner product will effect your life in the future?

(Mareya) Eat Cleaner has become part of my life philosophy. My children feed off my knowledge. My philosophy encourages them to eat cleaner and make them think when they shop.

My building a new business and jumping through many hoops made me tougher. There’s not a whole lot more I couldn’t do.

(CW) What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about Eat Cleaner?

(Mareya) The #1 Thing is that it took two full years to give birth and grow this baby, and bring it to the market. I am proud of the integrity of my product: inside and outside the package, it’s all natural, non-toxic, and helps people to eat cleaner and tastier fruit and vegetables, fish and poultry products.

(CW) What keeps Mareya going day after day?

(Mareya) My family keeps me going.

Knowledge is a huge driving force for me. Knowing that there are a lot of people looking for information we have for them and can give it to them.

Personally, I wanted to know what I could create and make it available to a lot of people, contribute to their healthy lives. That all makes me feel proud of my efforts.

(CW) Does your family, friends know what Mareya has been up to for the past two years? What would they tell me about you?

(Mareya)  They definitely were in the “know” of what’s going on with Eat Cleaner and my company.

They would tell you that I am on a mission and am passionate about what I do.

My 4-year-old can recite what Eat Cleaner does, “Eat Cleaner helps you ‘cause it takes away stuff you don’t wanna have.” Everyone has been supportive of my tremendous efforts to build the company.

(CW) How do you celebrate: your achievements, mistakes and miscalculations, and even failures?

(Mareya) When I make mistakes, I like to sit down and think about “why’s.” I don’t want to forget any of that.

Success to celebrate... Usually, what I truly like to do is to thank people around me who with their insights, advice, actions helped me to build this company. I do realize that the biggest celebration of success is still ahead of us.

(CW) After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on the day, just before you go to sleep, what goes through your heart and mind?

(Mareya) Every day, I’m amazed how much I’ve learned. How much yet to be done.

I would love to see Eat Cleaner on every single counter in the U.S., in North America, in the whole world.

Recipe for Fish Salad to Be On Track With You Weight Loss Plan

Here’s one of the healthy choices for you that incorporates the principals from the previous post about exercise, and healthy food choices after it (to lower your insulin resistance and lose or maintain weight). This salad does meat those requirements, and it is very filling.

Variety Fish Salad

(Easy delicious recipes for healthy meals. Every day)

Ingredients
1 orange
1 lb fish fillet (go for the cold water and Atlantic salmon, rather than farm fish)
1/2 cup Balsamic Vinegar
8 cups of spinach or green/red salad leaves
1 tomato, sliced
1 onion, sliced
1 can (16 oz) white or black beans, rinsed and drained
1/3 cup toasted pine nuts

Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 400 F. From the orange, grate some peel to measure 2 teaspoons; set aside. Peel and section orange; reserve. Arrange fish (salmon) in 8-inch baking dish.
2. Combine Balsamic Vinegar with orange peel in small bowl. Evenly brush fish (salmon) with 4 tablespoons dressing mixture. Bake 12 minutes or until salmon flakes with fork.
3. Arrange spinach (green salad leaves), tomatoes, and onion on serving platter. Top with orange and beans, then arrange fish (salmon) and pine nuts.
4. Drizzle with remaining Balsamic Vinegar.

Enhance Insulin Sensitivity With Exercise and Food After Your Workout
(A great tip to your weight loss plan)

It’s well known that factors such as insulin resistance (when the body has difficulty to take up sugar from the blood stream into its tissues) lead to weight gain. If you would like to lose weight – lower your insulin resistance (in other words, enhance your insulin sensitivity). How?

There is a lot of research that shows that exercise is one of the major factors to lower your insulin resistance. First step to all working and stay at home moms, do something to squeeze intense aerobic activity into your day. Regularly (fyi: 30-40 minutes on most days of the week.)

But there’s another interesting and a very key component you need to be aware of. It is the kind of food you eat After your exercise.1 Make a mental note of the following two factors in addition to exercise that will make a huge difference in achieving your weight loss goals.

1. Eat Low Carbohydrate content after your exercise (Low Glycemic food is the key!)
2. Eat enough calories to match what you just expended during your exercise (those calories that come from your healthy food choices)

Whatever your weight loss plan is, you need to do the above two items Together to get the results, that lead to increased insulin sensitivity and make you lose weight eventually.
