Zette Harbour ~ Woman With A Gift of Story Telling

Zette Harbour, the Woman With a Story
“Are you the kind of person who hears “that little voice inside” and wishes you had the confidence and strength to follow it?”

Zette Harbour, an amazingly talented Story Teller has that voice that materializes into compassionate conversations with her audience.

I had a chance to speak with Zette and find out more of who she is and why she tells stories.

Celebrate Woman Can you make a business out of your passion of what you love doing?

Zette YES. No way we can do it alone though. We rely on mentors in our life. We listen to mentors carefully with our hearts and souls. Then, we go into the world and allow our own selves to shine.

When we do what we love, all around us notice our passion and precision in our actions. These passions of my heart, I apply to the business. There’s no differentiation between the two.

You already have passion inside of you. Learn from others to apply business savvy to your passion.

Celebrate Woman  Do you have any support in life? And How do you find such support?

Zette  I rely on my inner voice a lot. It is my guide through turmoil and difficulties. It’s a matter of how carefully I listen to my inner gut feel.

Story Time is all about listening. Listenting to what those told stories may trigger inside of us. This is the biggest gift of any story telling.

Another valuable lesson we can learn from being exposed to a story telling is to discover what kind of stories we have inside of us. Staying open allows us to reach out into the depth of our hearts and souls and get that unique story into the world to share.

Celebrate Woman  Story telling takes a lot of energy while sharing with others. How do you recuperate and regain your strength to move forward?

Zette  I love taking long walks along my native California Coast. Those are the moments when inspiration crawls inside. That’s why I carry my little notebook everywhere I go. I just start writing. And later, I go through my notes and find things so relevant to this very moment in time.

What I find for myself is that what we carry inside of us is enough. The trick is to marry that feeling with our life path. I do it through Story Telling. What story do you have inside of you?

*****                    *****                     *****                     *****

Zette Harbour has offered one of my readers her fascinating CD – Story Harbour that was awarded 3 Awards:
~ Parents’ Choice Recommended Award
~ National Parenting Publications Awards
~ Creative Child Magazine, 2011 Preferred Choice Award Winner

Zette, thank you so much for your inspiration and depth of your story telling. Since our interview, I've been always alert to my "story inside of me." I have a lot to tell. But this telling comes from listening patiently, quietly first.

Blogging Is About Connections ~ My Fellow Woman And Blogger Spotlight ~ LaVonne @ Long Wait For Isabella Blog

LaVonne @ Long Wait For Isabella Blog
Anything that we do in this life revolves around relationships. To me, these relationships are the most fascinating thing ever.

It's not about things. It's not even about events if they happen without our careful understanding and pampering of the people we come into contact with.

Let me tell you, blogging is an amazing proliferation of close connections that we build as we get to know bloggers via their reviews, giveaways, their favorite subjects they share on the daily basis. I visit a ton of blogs daily, weekly. It would be a curious fact to know how many blogs we visit per year, wouldn't it?

Subscribing to one of my favorite blogs Long Wait For Isabella does a wonder-ful thing to my soul. I feel so peaceful and inspired by the way my fellow-blogger LaVonne does her blogging.

LaVonne loves all things organic and natural living. Her spirit soars because she's in contact of who she is. The spirit of confidence that I get from all of her writing and careful choosing of products she reviews and gives away draws me back to her blog. And I am being touched by her soulfulness, as she fills her words with it.

Blogging is not just giveaways or about giveaways. Blogging favors people with soul, with a standing platform, who influence us in many ways in our daily lives.

Blogging can change lives.

Blogging deepens relationships we create as we blog away with our topics, and themes, and product reviews.

Ultimately, blogging is all about Relationships. Our need to connect and feel trust towards those who are open-minded and open-hearted.

LaVonne, thank you for this opportunity to get connected with you miles and miles away via your amazingly open blogging style on Long Wait For Isabella.

You don't need to wait long to get connected with people.

*****
MaddieBrit Products, LLC based in Camarillo, California created and launched GrabGreen, a complete line of eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaning products. Founded by a mother of two who felt frustrated by a lack of health-conscious, environmentally friendly cleaning products took matters into her own hands and founded GrabGreen to give people like herself a new option.

Teachers, educators and parents know more than anyone what the face of the next generation looks like. They know intimately what we can expect from the children who will inherit the world we live in. Educators set the example—good or bad—that the next generation of children will follow.

GrabGreen does its part by offering educators a Buy-One-Get-One-Free online promotion. The promotion offers teachers and education professionals the chance to implement healthy cleaning options in the classroom and cafeteria. This sets a clear example for students and staff to follow when making their own cleaning product choices.

GrabGreen has a history of providing affordable products without toxic chemicals which appeals to educators, who use the cleaning products in their classrooms and homes. Teachers feel good using the products while knowing they are keeping students safe from harsh chemicals.

Over 500 educators have participated in the BOGO program since its inception. The founders, Patricia Spencer & Michael Edell, of GrabGreen feel it’s important to give back to the educators who have dedicated their lives to keeping students healthy, happy and well informed.

Since many schools and educational facilities have faced cutbacks and budget cuts, GrabGreen felt it was important to offer healthy cleaning products at a discounted rate. The company has given a new choice to educators and made it easy for them to choose a healthy, eco-friendly option while still saving money.

GrabGreen specializes in making eco-friendly products that can compete against even the toughest conventional cleaning products. The product line includes: nifty pre-measured laundry detergent and dishwashing detergent pods, along with countertop and all-purpose cleaners, glass cleaner, and hand soap. All products come in a multitude of delicious fragrances, although Spencer says, “As delicious the scents are, I don’t recommend tasting them…It's still soap.” In addition there is a fragrance-free option for those with sensitive skin.

Severine Sazlawski: Woman Entrepreneur and Green Glass Lover

The Giveaway for Amber Glass Tumblers is open now:  Check it out a beautiful giveaway offered by Severine to Celebrate Woman Today readers – Amber Frosted Glass Tumblers
 *****
I love green and eco-friendly products. I love to hear when they are created and marketed by women-entrepreneurs.

Celebrate Woman  is always on the lookout of women who dare to live their dreams. And share their experiences and tips with the others who are on their way to live their dreams.

Severine Zaslawski, The Green Glass Company Owner
Today, I'd like to offer you all a peak into Severine Saslawski's point of view on women, business, and living a "green" life style.

Celebrate Woman (CW) What would you tell any woman who would like to start her entrepreneurial life in New 2012 Year?

(Severine) Be passionate about your products or services…  Do not start a business because someone told you it is a good idea!  At the end of the day, you will be the only ambassador for your business and you will need to do a LOT of convincing and there will be a lot of LONG days.  Work and play will intermingle all the time:  I create products when I entertain friends, I visit artists working with glass when I am on vacation…  I never really stop because I love the products we make!

Celebrate Woman (CW) In your words, what does it take to be successful in what you do?

(Severine) Working a lot, opening up to other’s feedback and always look for innovation.

Celebrate Woman (CW) Is it important to take care of your body as well as your mind as you are pursuing your life’s dreams?

(Severine)Yes.  I have been eating healthy foods all of my life (born and raised in southern France) and good food is essential to my mental balance.  I am also a cancer survivor so I have learned how to re-prioritize healthy habits: I have a dog and we go on at least one long walk once a day rain or shine.

Celebrate Woman (CW) Anything you would like to add, please do.
(Severine) Someone told me that if you always postpone grabbing your chance, then less opportunity will come your way.  In some odd ways the statement stands true:  the most chance you take, the more chance you’ll have…

PS: Check out a beautiful giveaway offered by Severine to Celebrate Woman Today readers – Glass Frosted Amber Tumblers

Rebecca Buscemi on What Women Entrepreneurs Know About Healthy Living

Guest Blog by Rebecca Buscemi of The Savvy Womens Business Solution
Rebecca Buscemi, The Savvy Womens Business Solution
WHO: Rebecca Buscemi, Owner
WHERE: The Savvy Womens Business Solution
MOTTO: Many Things Possible without Cadbury Creme Eggs

When first approached to be a guest blogger for Celebrate Women Today on healthy living I giggled. I thought, “Me? Healthy?”  I thought about many of my past Facebook posts regarding my lack of exercising and my fantastic eating habits (buffalo chicken dip, copious amounts of PEZ and lately Cadbury Creme eggs). But then I started to think about health in other ways. It’s not just about fruits and veggies and exercise, now is it?

Of course not! So here is my personal list of what this woman entrepreneur knows about healthy living.

Support: Thank goodness for my online networking mom and women entrepreneurs. Only these ladies truly understand the daily shenanigans of what it’s like to be ‘one of us.’ Balancing a home, a family, and a business under one roof is not easy. I look to these ladies for advice, virtual hugs and empathy.

There is no way I could manage my business without real, in-person support. Aside from my husband, family and friends, there is one particular person that keeps me mentally sane and it’s my nanny. Our nanny has been with us a little over a year and has been one the best things that has ever happened to my business.

My very wise business coach, Lara Galloway told me at the end of 2009 when my business was starting to take off that there was no way I could be the sole care-giver for my children on my work days. Boy was she right. My children and I have a much healthier relationship because when I’m working, they are in great hands. And I no longer feel like the worst mommy in the world because I have my third child in my lap (my laptop.)

Systems & Technology: This one is still a work in progress for me. I’m not very good with organization; but I know that my children and family functions so much better when there is structure in their lives. And for me, being the tech-geek that I am, the best way to create systems for me is through the use of technology.

Here is a quick rundown of a few of my favorites:
• PageOnce.com - Finances
• Google - Email, documents, calendar
• TungleMe - For clients and potential clients to schedule time with me according to my calendar and office hours
• Alice.com - Management of my household items on a schedule of when I need the items and they get delivered to me!
• And of course, my iPhone with all of my lovely apps. My very own personal assistant.

Water: One thing that I know has made an impact on me feeling more alive throughout my day is drinking water. I’m a huge fan of coffee; I knew there was no way that I could give it up, but I have lessened my intake to make room for more water. To give my water a little more flavor I love to add True Lime to a bottle. And on days where I’m really dragging, I drink coconut water.

Rest & Relaxation:  I finally learned that I can’t run 24 hours a day. I need at least 7 hours of sleep and mini-breaks throughout my day. Some times those breaks are reading a chapter of a book, chatting on the phone with a friend, cuddling on the sofa with the kids during an episode or two with the kids or a glass of wine and some sushi with a good friend. We all need a break and we all need sleep.

A Sense of Humor and Letting Things Go: Being able to laugh at my mistakes, things the kids are doing and what life gives me is quite a gift and I’m so happy that it’s one that I possess. Life is too short to hold on to habits, people and problems that bring you down. Having a positive outlook on my life and what’s handed to me is the only way I’ll make it out alive!

PS: If you have any questions to Rebecca Buscemi, please leave them in the comments below. She will definitely read and answer them.

Disclosure: I only write about products I believe in and/or use personally and the companies who truly advance forward the best traits of the humankind. I am not compensated for my opinions.

Candi Wingate – What Women Entrepreneurs Know about Healthy Living

Women in business never stop to amaze me. With their sharp intelligence, effectiveness tips, and human coy they live their daily lives.

This year's section of What Women Entrepreneurs Know About Healthy Living we are opening with Candi Wingate – Guest Blogger on CelebrateWomanToday – and her take on this competitively discussed issue.
Candi Wingate, President, Nannies4Hire.com

WHO: Candi Wingate, President
COMPANY: Nannies4Hire.com and Care4Hire.com
MOTTO FOR LIFE: Everything takes longer than you expect, be patient, work hard and it will come together in the end.

It takes know-how to balance effectively the responsibilities of work and home life, to be able to keep all of life in order when there is more to do than time in which to do it. Of necessity, women-entrepreneurs have learned a thing or two about healthy living, just to be able to do all that they do and be all that they are. Read on for lessons from woman-entrepreneur.

1. Prioritize your tasks; spend your time where it matters. No one can accomplish everything that they would like to get done in the course of a day. Rather than spending time on tasks that are of no consequence and then running out of time to attend to things that are important, it is important to prioritize your tasks (at home and work) and attend to those tasks first.

2. Delegation is essential. Again, no one can do everything. Do you have an assistant who can prepare that report for your client at work? Is your six-year-old able to start assuming responsibility for keeping her own room tidy?

3. Multi-tasking, when undertaken well, is also essential.  While applying cosmetics while commuting to work is not wise multi-tasking, talking with your client on the telephone while simultaneously searching your database for relevant information to share with the client is.

When taking your daughter to dance class on the north side of town, you can pick up your dry cleaning while you are in that neighborhood. After class, as you wait in your vehicle for her to come out of class, you can peruse your company’s income statement searching for areas where savings can be achieved.

4. Lead by example. Both at home and at work, people are watching what you do and will likely emulate you, whether they intend to or not. Do you want to have staff and children that behave well? Lead well. Be ethical. Exhibit compassion. Be calm. Have patience. Listen well. Make well informed decisions based on long-term best interests of all affected parties.

5. Invest in yourself and others. Invest in proper foods, clothing, information, and other resources.

•Fast foods can provide a quick burst of energy followed by a sharp drop in energy. Fatty foods decrease energy.
• By eating a well balanced diet, you can have the sustained energy to be as productive as you need to be.
• Similarly, situation-inappropriate clothing is contraindicated. How productive are you when you are focused on how hot or cold you are?
• Education is the cornerstone for professional success and personal development.
• Other resources to invest in include reliable transportation, relaxing music, and quality vacations.

All of these investments can be made in yourself and others.

Think of the foods and clothing you purchase for your children. What foods do you provide for office parties? Does your company reimburse employees for college classes successfully completed? A vacation may be a great employee-of-the-year gift.

6. Protect what is important to you.

7. Exercise.

8. Support the arts and your community.

9. Go green.

10. Encourage others to do so as well.

She Conquered The World of Women's Hygiene With Pantzies

Laura Stearn, Creator of Pantzies
What am I talking about, you’ll ask. Well, my women, I just discovered Pantzies!

And what's more exciting to me, I discovered Laura Stearn. She is the “smart pants” who had the courage – definitely the courage to make this revolution in women’s hygiene – to start and finish her project called PANTZIES.

Let’s take it one step-at-a-time.

I had a privilege to speak with Laura Stearn. The conversation was long and inspiring. Before I go into the product itself, please allow me to introduce to you a woman who had her own path in life and in business. And how her passions materialized into very many things in art, design, and, eventually, consumer products for you and me.

Here we go.

CelebrateWoman (CW) Laura, throughout your life, you designed and developed a lot of beautiful things in many Fashion Design Houses of Europe and Italy. What made you stop and start a new, relatively different project like Pantzies?

Laura Stearn (LS)  The idea of pantzies came to me as a natural existing need in the today’s hygiene world for women. This industry hasn’t been improved upon for a long time. As consumer has become much more sophisticated, the products saw minimal improvement in the look and feel, and psychological aspiration of the consumer.

That is why my desire was to make a product that would not only function well and fulfill a certain need. For me, as part of the puzzle, was to make this product sexy and beautiful. A product that could inspire a woman for the whole day. Put a smile on her face.

This to me was a screaming need in the hygiene industry. And I decided to undertake this effort to complete this project for us, Women.

(CW)  What was your inspiration for this project? What was your life before and after the creation of pantzies?

(LS)  I guess each person goes through stages in their lives. Mine was living in different countries. Working for designer houses as a designing artist. Then I started focusing on business matters. Had my own company Novecento, which was later acquired.

It seemed to me that I have done so much in design. I felt fulfilled in my soul. That is why I wanted to work on a project on a larger scale. The project that would effect the well-being of millions of people and create a legacy of who I was trying to be throughout my life.

In this poor economic climate, we watch how the whole world came almost to a stop in so many areas of life. Though some industries like technology are booming, retail industry is still reluctant to try something new for their product lines.

However, in such times, there are opportunities. And I saw such opening for “feel good,” practical products.

With creation of pantzies, my life has become 10 times busier it was before it. This business is not only about designing a product per se. It is about running and developing a huge business machine that would take that product to the consumer.

(CW)  Who are those remarkable people who influenced you in your creative, personal, and professional life?

(LS)  Absolutely my parents. They gave me courage and inspiration to do things on my own from the very early stages of my life. I had their emotional and mental support. I still do.

Another remarkable person in my life, whom I love and respect, is my husband. Michael Wieters. He is the one who gave the pantzies economic legs, so to say. He is my back and a bouncing board for ideas. He’s my best friend.

My business thinking has been much influenced and supported by John Gibson. He is one of those rare birds who share their personal experience and give advice without bias. Truly respect this wonderful man.

(CW)  Laura, what is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about your product – pantzies?

(LS) The #1 thing is that pantzies make every woman feel Fresh and Sexy! Every woman feels comfortable and good about her choice of pantzies.

(CW)  If we put all your family and friends into one room at the same time, what would they say about Laura Stearn and her involvement with her company?

(LS)  They would say Laura Stearn is hard working, savvy, creative, persistent.

On the human side, Laura Stearn is caring, positive, loving, open-minded, understanding.

Personally, I do not fight with people. I love people, whatever points of view they may have on different subjects. Every one of us has a kind and giving soul.

(CW)  With all that stress and tough business environment, what keeps you going day after day?

(LS)  My drive. Honestly, I see a bigger picture.

We as humans, have incredible intelligence and are connected to the energy and spirituality that drive us in life.

In my daily life, I crave knowledge, accomplishment, experience. It is my responsibility to unveil my potential through the gifts and skills I have as an individual. As a woman.

(CW)  After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on your day, what goes through your heart and mind?

(LS)  First, it is gratitude for the day, my husband, the roof over my head.

Then I start creating, seeing new products, ideas. There is a kaleidoscope of things that flashing through my mind. At times, I dream about all of it.

Next morning, I may get up with new ideas for my business and my new products. It is a  fascinating process, dreaming. It often reveals what needs to be done. But I need to admit, I need to be totally at peace with myself to allow this creative energy flow through me and assist me in what I am doing.

*****

Oh, my. What a great creative soul, Laura Stearn!

And this is not over yet. Come back for more about Laura’s creation – Pantzies.

Laura also will share with us all her challenges and successes of weight loss and maintenance. Stay tuned. You’ll get your curiosity satisfied.

What’s at the end? A huge SURPRISE!

Grab a Better Life. Grab Green. Today!

A thousand times did I wish for a way to clean my house and all the living spaces with something that shall, First, clean it effectively, Second, be refreshing, Third, be harmless to the health.

I have tried and tested a lot of products that are harmless for the health of a human being, but still were lacking the effectiveness of a good household cleaning solution.

This time, I think I found some little treasure that could make any house cleaning a wonderful past time.

Absolutely astounding, with refreshing qualities, let me introduce to you for your home affairs needs GrabGreen and its profound founder, amazing woman, and a wonder-mother Patricia Spencer! [Yes, I am that excited to let the whole world know about GrabGreen alternative to the chemicals in almost everything used to clean, refresh, and disinfect our living spaces.]

What Is GrabGreen?
All the products for your household needs: detergents, room and fabric freshners, glass cleaners, dish soap cleaner, bathroom and kitchen cleaning solutions.
GrabGreen Detergents, Glass Cleaners, Dish Soap, Room & Fabric Freshners
Why GrabGreen?
For many reasons. Most important of those reasons are:

GrabGreen is made of organic and mineral-based ingredients that are harmless for human beings and pets, and are eco-friendly for our planet.

Packaging is made of biodegradable and/or recyclable materials.

The products are amazingly effective in cleaning, degreasing, and refreshing all the surfaces they touch.

All the products are hypoallergenic, contain no dyes.

And NO, GrabGreen is NOT tested on animals!

I discovered GrabGreen a year-and-a-half ago while being at the product show. Right away, I was swept away by the simplicity and elegance of the idea and its implementation.

Since then, my most favorite product choice by GrabGreen is their detergent. I have been using it without regret. And with abundance of times I have to start that washer to clean again and again for the little one... In one word, GrabGreen does its job with remarkable efficiency.

As much as I was fascinated by this original, natural, and eco-friendly product line, my interest and innate curiosity about the founder of the company forced me to set up a special interview.

The conversation with Patricia Spencer, the founder and owner of GrabGreen turned to be an event with letter A. She is a genuinely smart, intuitive, and exceptionally tuned in to the current state of the market affairs. I was impressed by this modest, yet powerful woman.

I am gladly sharing the interview moments with my readers of CelebrateWoman.

•••••

CelebrateWoman   Patricia, what was the trigger to create GrabGreen products?

Patricia Spencer   My kids inspired me to create my first GrabGreen products. When my daughters were young, they loved to harvest vegetables and herbs from our garden. They made our garden their own playground. What a great thing to do for a young child!

But for the mom, me, it was a hard task to get the stains out of their clothes. It made me think what I could do to create my own cleaning and stain removing solution.

I did a lot of self-education and research. Non of the detergents and laundry agents were non-toxic and made out of natural ingredients. After experimenting in my kitchen, I was able to develop a very effective solution for stain removal from the clothes. And I used it myself and shared with my friends and families.

Moving forward. Ten years later, I decided to take my concept of the natural stain removing “concoction” and make it into a healthy, eco-friendly professionally packaged product for home and office use. The rest, as they say, is history.

CelebrateWoman   What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about your product?

Patricia Spencer The number one thing is that all GrabGreen products are effective, though they consist only of natural, organic ingredients. That’s what differentiates us from all other brands.
CelebrateWoman   Patricia, how do you see your creation, your product will effect your life in the future?

PatriciaSpencer   Our product line goes beyond health market. It addresses the mass market in this country.

Due to product convenience and effectiveness, we see a lot of students using it in their living environment that requires the minimum of effort to take care of your laundry.

People with allergies and sensitivities to chemicals, and especially the elderly are using our products, as GrabGreen is hypoallergenic and contains no dyes, chemicals, or skin irritants.

We see an amazing wave of population using GrabGreen products in their lives.

CelebrateWoman   What inspires you and keeps you going day after day, after day?

Patricia Spencer   It’s the knowledge that I can give the best to my family and friends. It is the knowing that I can give something non-toxic to live with. My search for better and improved formula continues on the daily basis.

CelebrateWoman   How do you celebrate: your achievements and your mistakes?

Patricia Spencer   Mistakes... I look at them and learn from them. Such process accelerates me forward.

Achievements... I vocalize me being happy. I laugh. I scream! Yes, I am very loud when something comes together.

CelebrateWoman   Would you have your remarkable people who influenced you and your creativity the most?

Patricia Spencer   That would be my Mother. She didn’t develop any products. She didn’t lead a big company. What she did was to believe in your own self and go for your own dream. She used to say, “Pick a dream and move forward!”

CelebrateWoman   Has your involvement with your company and products changed your self-image and your relationships with friends and family?

Patricia Spencer   Being in business for myself, the process of growing the company and developing new products – all that created a whole new realm of emotions within.

I was excited. I was uncertain. I was swimming in a collection of emotions.

At the same time, I was growing professionally and that came with my boosted sense of confidence in my skills and success of the product line.

Interestingly, I was receiving a lot of positively-charged feedback and emotions from the women who loved my product and asked for more. Such indirect support inspired me to create new products.

I was also excited to involve my daughters in this growing business. So that they could start early to take the ownership of what they create every step of the way. Watching them grow professionally gives me a huge pride for who they are and what they are becoming every day.

CelebrateWoman   Patricia, if you had to do it again, would you? And why?

Patricia Spencer   Absolutely, yes. I am especially happy to have my girls in this business. Now that they are older, they can contribute, they observe, they give an invaluable feedback. It's an amazing experience to be in business with your children!

Bags Of Goods – Customized To Your Lifestyle

Taking care of your home is a big part of taking care of the whole planet Earth. Let me explain.

For several years, I've made it my mission to transfer my whole household into a green, eco-friendly environment. I am always on the lookout for the best naturally derived products that can clean my house and home without any negative health effects.

Being a vegetarian, I say a loud "YES" to those products that are recyclable and/or contribute the minimum to the greenhouse effect of our planet.

That is why I celebrate and spread the word about the companies and their achievements when they do the right thing for the climate, and you, and me.

If you are a bag fashionista, you are not alone! The truth to be said about bags and purses: They do add character and conveniences to our image.

There are bags that are made of leather and those that use man-made materials for their unique looks. I do not buy those that are crafted out of animal parts.

Merle O'Brien does not use leather either. Yet, she is considered to be one of the most creative persons I've ever met in my life. What does Merle do? She saves our landfills from being trashed with unused fabrics and remnants of artificial nature.

After salvaging all of that, she turns it into a high Fashion. Bags and Purses. Check it out, these individual pieces are colorful, modern, and very comfortable to carry around. Any woman could choose a style and color she favors in her new acquisition and show it off to everyone!

These bags are Fun, too! They can serve a variety of uses: Shopping, Beach, Gym, Theater, Casual Wear.
*****
How did Merle come up with this idea to make bags out of the remnants of various fabrics? Here what she shared with us.

Merle O'Brien: The inspiration for OlovesM Bags came to me while I was in the downward dog pose in youga class.

The idea literally popped into my head – What happens to [yoga] mats that are no longer used or thrown out?

I did a ton of research to find out that a lot of mats are made from PVC and det tossed into lnadfills – even new ones!

So I went on a quest to find those un-used mats and make Functional-Unique-Hip-Sassy bags!

*****
I do love women who create such products that are both high in value and easy on the Planet.

Celebrate Recycling Fashionable Bags Today!

NB: I do trust you've gotten one of those recyclable shopping bags to carry with you to your grocery store! If not, please do so! – With love to you.

PS: If you have any questions to Merle O'Brien, please leave them in the comments below. She will definitely read and answer them.

Moo-Loo-La-Ba – What Language Are You Speaking?

The language of Fashion. Comfort. Genuine performing fabrics that leave you in a state of magical, unnoticeable movement around your body.

My conversation today is about active, sporty, casual wear that totally fits me: both my body and my image.

How many times did I buy something brandy-trendy to find out that the performance of that clothing item was much less that expected and desired? Even such brands like Nike, at times, leave not a “smooth” impression on my skin.

I love clothes that allow me to workout without constantly pulling the top down or readjusting the fitting of my shorts. I also love the outfits that allow my skin to breath and look fashionable and feel comfortable.

Where do YOU go to find “your type of such clothes”? As for me, I go to Mooloolaba. Once you wore it, it’ll be hard to go to anything else, but MooLooLaba.

As you know, when I discover amazing things to use in my home, for my wear, for my lifestyle, my curiosity goes further than that. I get hold of the owner, inventor, creator of the product to find out Why’s, When’s, How’s.

Jen Ryan, the creator and founder of the Mooloolaba brand, graciously agreed to share what it takes to imagine and run the business like hers.

You’ll find out too. Just read the answers to the questions below.
*****
CelebrateWoman (CW)  Dear Jen, what was the beginning of your business? Why did you start something that has so much competition in the market place?

Jen Ryan (Jen)  My roots go to Australia. There, we wear light clothes, colorful clothes. When I came to the U.S., I brought my own outfits that reflected my culture, my environment, and generated a lot of questions of “Where did I get this skirt or this top?”

What stroke me at that time, that the active wear industry was pretty much devoid of colorful sportswear and served only certain age groups who enjoyed wearing their clothes.

I decided to change that with creating a new market nich for the women who are over 30 years of age and who would wear fashionable, colorful clothes suited for active and casual lifestyle. That’s how it all began.

CW  Any difficulties in the beginning of such business endeavor?

Jen  The biggest difficulty and a surprise for me was that big brands like Billabong, Quicksilver, O’Neil, Hurley, Volcom were really dominating the clothing market for the surfers. And it took a tremendous amount of effort to convince the retailers to try and carry the Mooloolaba brand for their customers.

But I started with the local surfers, supporting their efforts with my clothing. Slowly, the word spread out. So did the brand awareness.
Being in a very competitive environment, I wish I had a partner from the very beginning. That would allow us to share responsibilities and have more time to do what needs to be done for the success of a business.

But don’t take me wrong. I love what I do and would do it again... just a little bit different.

CW  Jen, how do you see your Mooloolaba lifestyle clothing line would effect your life in the future?

Jen  I like outdoor athletic clothes. Seeing people wearing my brand truly inspires me to create more and come up with different styles and colors for fashionable clothes to wear.

I so much enjoy the process of creating of new items, that I took a drawing class to be able to reflect on the paper my ideas of new designs and styles.

Staying open to the process is my way to living life. It shall take me where I need and want to be step-by-step.

CW  What is the #1 Thing you would say about your product to the customers?

Jen  The first thing that comes to mind is Quality and Function. The clothing items perform great when they’re worn on the body, and they last without losing its fashionable colors and quality.

CW  Do your family and friends know what Jen does with her business life? What would they tell me about you?

Jen  All of my friends and family are very much aware of my crazily busy life and what I do with my business.

They would tell me that I DO care about my company and its prerogatives. They’ll mention to you that I am a genuine, real, and open person. One of my friends nicknamed me Jen-uine Ryan.

I always take an extra step to deal with my vendors and customers. Personal touch is my trademark in everything I do.

CW  Has your involvement with your business changed your self-image, your personal relationships?

Jen  The business has come to be a huge strain on my relationships. What I learned during this process has served me a huge lesson.

One of the positives that I carried out during this time is ability to un-stress and embrace the journey. In my case, it is giving birth to a business with a million projects and design developments running parallel to each other.

The final result – I learned to take pride in what I do and enjoy my sailing across the rough seas.

CW  Jen, where do you find your source of refreshment and rejuvenation?

Jen  Exercise, especially yoga, have been my companions. Staying active helps me to focus and come up with fresh ideas for my business.

Taking lunch breaks has become my practice. Before, I ignored that time, thinking it’s a time away from my business. Now, I treat it with respect and don’t skip, unless it’s a necessity.

CW  How do you celebrate your victories?

Jen  I take vacations. Love to go home to Australia and spend some time with my family there.

Another gift I give to myself is long walks and taking Fridays off!

CW A few questions about your product. Who is your target market?
Jen  I designe for women 35+.  However, what I noticed, the Mooloolaba brand is very attractive to anyone who cares about style and comfort. So, younger generations use it as much as older.

CW  Please, give us some reasons to buy the Mooloolaba brand again and again.

Jen  All Mooloolaba clothes are of high quality. No matter how frequently you wash it, it will still look fashionable, without loosing its vibrant colors. Plus, all of our items are made in the U.S.A. It’s like supporting your local farmer: Support those companies that produce and manufacture locally, i.e., in your own country.

We donate part of our procedures to the Wild Aid, the non-profit whose goal is eliminating animal cruelty and deaths for the sake of harvesting animal parts.

CW Jen, how are the Mooloolaba clothes are different from your competitor’s?
Jen
• Lasting quality is our trademark.
• We use organic bamboo, soy fabrics with spandex woven into the fabric.
• All of our clothes items have 50 UV sun protection.
• The materials we use weaks away the sweat from the skin during the activity.
• We use sustainable blocks for the fabric production. That means that these blocks will be used again and again and not just thrown away after one use.

CW  Where can we buy the Mooloolaba brand?

Jen   Please visit our website www.mooloolabaus.com and buy anything you want from there. Also, check the “store location” button for the stores that carry our brand.

PS: If you have any questions to Jen Ryan, please leave them in the comments below. She will definitely read and answer them.

What Kind Of Sunblock Surfs Your Skin?

I lived one-third of my life in Hawaii. What a great place to be, to grow, to learn and be inspired about the way the Hawaiian culture instills peace, kindness, resolve to life.

Once you lived in Hawaii, you’ll always remain a Hawaiian – at heart and deep within your soul. My Hawaiian Ohana is my connection to life where it needs to be. Like in the movie Avatar, healing energy flows through the entire community of its participants. If you stay connected – you’ll find your own way to a prosperous and fulfilling living.

Being young and adventurous, I barely used sunscreen products on my skin. After about 6 months of my stay in Hawaii, I started noticing pigmentation, first, covering my shoulders. Then, slowly migrating to the skin of my hands, face, back.

That was a huge moment of “AHA.” I made my own huge mis-judgement abut the potency of the sun. The sun can be healing and fun. The sun can become your enemy if you don’t treat it with respect.

That is why from that far-away day, I started using sun lotions and creams to prevent further “degradation” of my thin and sensitive skin.

With the years passing by, I educated myself on the all-natural products that perform the skin protection job with excellency of the master magician. My education and experimentation never ends. It propels me towards new ideas in new products that could be the most beneficial to my skin.

That is why when I see a product with great ingredients, I will sure experiment with it. Test it. Evaluate it on me. Then decide if I like it for my daily or seasonal usage.

And I celebrate my new “findings.” Today is a special celebration of the Smart Girls Who Surf sun protection lotions, lip balms, sunblocks, conditioners, soaps. To be precise, I would like to celebrate the founder, the creator, the master minder behind these fabulous, healthy and awfully needed products for our generations of beach goers and, of course, surfers – Jennifer Taylor.
*****

CelebrateWoman (CW) What got you started on the path of developing Smart Girls Who Surf?

Jennifer Taylor (Jennifer) My healthy obsession with skincare and protecting my children while they are out in the sun. We live in a beach community, and we have sunshine eleven months out of the year. Even in the winter time, a person is exposed to harsh UVA and UVB rays. So I found myself slathering on sunscreen everyday.

As a woman and a mom, I tend to scrutinize products I use every single day.  Shampoos, soaps, laundry detergent, sunscreen, etc… When I developed my formulas, I spent a lot of time researching chemicals and synthetic ingredients that make up most of the products we use in a daily basis, and I was appalled to find out how toxic they are. That is how the product line came to be.

(CW) What was your life before you started this company ... and after ...?

(Jennifer) My professional background is in sales and marketing, but I had quit my job before my husband and I relocated to Laguna Beach from San Francisco and before I had my second child.

So, I was a full-time mother managing two kids’ schedules and a household just like a lot of women out there.

Now my life is the same, except crazier. I go to my office in the morning and  leave by 2:30 pm to pick up my kids form school, then homework, sports, and dinner. I’ve learned that it’s okay not to have a perfectly clean house 24/7!

(CW) Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

(Jennifer) There are many.  My Mom and Dad, my Husband, my kids, and a few close friends.

I don’t think people quite realize how much work is involved in starting a business and then actually having to maintain and grow it. There are so many different skills that are needed. Some you acquire from college, some learning from your mistakes, and many from your parents’ wisdom.

I think to be successful in anything, you tend to pull from what you have learned throughout your life time, and a lot of those experiences come from your past and present relationships.

(CW)  Has your involvement with Smart Girls Who Surf products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family, friends, romantic involvement?

(Jennifer) No, not really. I am lucky to say that I have always been a pretty independent and self-assured person. Transitioning from a career person to a mom and back to a career person was incredibly easy for me.

The unfortunate thing about having a full plate is that you find at the end of the day you don’t have as much time for yourself or for your friends. That is something I know I need to work on more. Women rely heavily on their friendships. It’s the one sure thing you know you can count on when you are feeling overwhelmed.

(CW)  If you had to do it all over again, would you? And why?

(Jennifer)  Absolutely!  Having your own business and watching it grow and succeed is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done besides create two wonderful children.

(CW) Is there anything that was a surprise to you that you did not expect on your way creating Smart Girls Who Surf?

(Jennifer)  Yes. There are many things that are surprising. The biggest surprise was how hard it is to be a small business owner. I thought going into it, “Well if I can accomplish A,B, and C, then the rest will just happen naturally.” So wrong!! It is like running a race, but you don’t know where the finish line is.

(CW)  How do you see Smart Girls Who Surf will effect your life in the future?

(Jennifer)  I am hoping that the company and the brand will continue to grow. I am hoping to show my children that their mom went out and started a small business on her own and grew it into a successful company. I want them to see firsthand, that they can achieve anything that they put their mind to. I want them to know that life is full of opportunities.

(CW)  What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about your Smart Girls Who Surf products?

(Jennifer)  That our products are actually healthy and good for you skin. So many skincare products are mass produced overseas, made with cheap synthetic chemicals and are so harmful to your health.

At Smart Girls Who Surf we are extremely aware of quality control (our products are made and packaged in the USA), and customer feedback.

Also, when I developed the brand that I had an image of a Smart Girl, I wanted to promote with my brand. My Smart Girl is responsible in her decision making, respectful to herself and others, and is helpful and compassionate to those in need.  Qualities, I think are lacking a bit in todays society.

My goal is that with developing a positive lifestyle message with this brand, it will resonate with our children. To help achieve this, I support a group of amateur, female athletes (SGWS Team Riders) who have to meet some high standards to be accepted into our program. Like maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, volunteer for some non-profits or charities, like Surfrider and American Cancer Society, and be a responsible individual.

I’d like to think that these girls can be the role models that parents are looking up for their children.

(CW) If we talked to All of your family and friends – imagine them in one room at the same time – what would you tell them about what you do? – What would they tell Me about your involvement with your company?

(Jennifer) My family and friends pretty much know what I do.  They know that I am extremely passionate about, what I am doing. I don’t think there is a lot of guessing going on.

They would probably tell you that I am very decisive, that I see things in black and white, and that I am a freak about wearing sunscreen. I am always asking everyone if they have their sunscreen on.

(CW)  What keeps you going day after day?

(Jennifer)  The thrill of creation and the support I receive from my family and friends.  Everyday I get to create or contribute to something or someone.

(CW)  How do you celebrate: your achievements; mistakes and miscalculations; and even failures?

(Jennifer)  Well, I celebrate my achievements by smiling and giving myself a small pat on the back and then continuing with my day.

Mistakes and miscalculations are not celebrated, but are just a deep breath and a powerful mental note of what not to repeat. I think both your wins and your losses are what shape you into the type of person you are.  You learn from both experiences and you move on.

(CW)  After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on the day, just before you go to sleep, what goes through your heart and mind?

(Jennifer)  I am always thankful for what I have and what I have been given.
*****
What are you celebrating today? Any special celebrations this summer? No matter what season, hot or cold, sad or happy, celebrate your inner dreams that move you along the path of life. Your life is in the making.

Thank you, Jennifer, for thinking through and putting a plan together of creating a very skin-friendly product – actually, several products –for me and all the people who care about their health and the health of our Earth and Oceans.
PS: If you have any questions to Jennifer Taylor, please leave them in the comments below. She will definitely read and answer them.
PPS: If you know a woman-entrepreneur who has created healthy product(s), please let me know, so we could spread the word about her and her contribution to this planet.

Woman With Passion for Green...

... as in “Definitely for green Earth.” There are more and more people getting very common and uncommon diseases and infections these days. The medical profession goes fast about it: Treat them with antibiotics. At times, this works. Sometimes, it fails.
One of the most important measures to make any treatment successful is having clean environment and surfaces that touch the person’s skin. Clean is a synonym to Healthy Life in addition to all of those meanings that exist.

How do you make surfaces clean? You wash. You disinfect. You wash again. With what? All kinds of chemical solutions that kiss microbes good-bye.

What would you say if you knew that your clothes, towels, bed sheets had anti-microbial properties, meaning “stopped harmful organisms from intruding upon your space?”

Yvonne Busbee is a woman-entrepreneur who has created products and product ideas that do exactly that. And more. To be exact, Yvonne uses Functional Fibers that have abilities to control bacterial regeneration, have electrical conductivity (for you, it’s to keep you warm or cool), and require minimal resources to produce. That’s quite a beautiful handful of characteristics to have!

Having a privilege to meet and interview this amazing woman makes my readers a notch more empowered with what Yvonne has created and how she managed to find herself in a germ-free spot.
*****
Functional Fibers for Germ FREE Life

CelebrateWoman (CW) Yvonne, how did it happen that you started your own company with the products that do not have any equivalent in the current market?

Yvonne Busbee (Yvonne) It all happen through a friendly introduction to a gentleman from Germany who created fiber with silver ions in them. It is no miracle that silver ions have antibacterial properties.

My husband and I saw a huge potential for a healthy living through usage of products made of such material. Besides, to produce such fibers is exceptionally – extremely – friendly on the eco system. That’s how our company XtremEarth came to life.

CW How did your new company changed your life: What was it life before and after?

Yvonne Before it was Nursing School, Accounting School, two kids to take care of. Life was extremely busy. Little did I know what to expect from me being an owner of the company!

The company got started in 2006. There was a lot of testing and product development that had to be done. But the goal of getting this functional fiber out into this world was really strong.

What makes this fiber different is that during its  patented manufacturing process silver ions are infused into its structure. These ions have antibacterial and temperature controlling (conductivity) properties. Plus, they do not escape by washing out the fabrics in which they are woven. The fibers itself

Being a nurse and knowing a huge need for products that could help patients to get a quicker recovery avoiding additional infection from various surgical procedures drove me forward even more. One little change like robes with antimicrobial properties for medical personnel and patients could be a huge step in improving recovery rates in our hospitals.

CW Who are those remarkable people that influenced your creative, professional, and personal life that lead you to starting and sustaining this company?

Yvonne My husband is a very creative person. I met him before we started XtremEarth. His visionary leadership helped us to navigate through the many obstacles.

My nursing background and knowledge of the medical field helped to propel our company into many uses of these incredible functional fibers.

My family has been always my driving force for everything I have achieved so far. My daughter and grandson are amazing inspiration to me for so many ideas I put into my business.

CW Has your involvement with XtremEarth products and company changed your self-image, and your relationships with family and friends?

Yvonne Building this company from scratch made me feel of a great potential of touching so many lives. As a nurse, I’m always meeting patients and see their health problems. I’m always in that compassion mode of resolving their situation successfully.

The functional fibers could be a direct answer of helping and improving quality of life of many people with medical conditions and of those who are healthy. Using fabrics with functional fibers that have silver ions could be used in bed soars, E. coli, candida prevention. That all could be prevented without using any chemicals!

CW Is there anything that was a surprise to you that you did not expect on your way creating your company and products?

Yvonne A lot of beaurocracy of passing past ETA and FDA. For example, we need to specify in our testing that silver ions protect the product surface (like towels, socks, etc.), not a person from microbial intrusion. It’s a huge surprise what we can and what we cannot claim on our products. That is why education plays a huge role in getting useful information out to masses.
CW Yvonne, how do you see XtremEarth will effect your life in the future?

Yvonne I would say I see potential of changing how people live their daily lives. I already see a lot of benefits of using my own products at home.

I use no detergent on the towels and clothes made with functional fibers. If they are really, really soiled, then I use a small cap of natural detergent during a washing cycle.

All the towels in my bathrooms and in the kitchen are my company’s products. Less germs on the body and kitchen counters and floors! I love it! I already see my life changing having living it in a healthier, cleaner, germs-less way.

CW What is the #1 Thing you would like your customers to know about XtremEarth products?

Yvonne The Number 1 thing is a combination of two things: Sustainability and functionality of our products. There’s no product in the current market that has such a variety of uses with antimicrobial properties for a lot of industries like medical, agricultural, confection and many more.

Silver ions keep the surfaces they touch clean and fresh.

I also call our functional fibers “climate changing fibers” as the clothes made out of it regulate body temperature: keeping it warm or cool depending on the weather.

CW If we talked to all of your friends and family, what would they tell us about you and your involvement with your company?

Yvonne That I follow my heart. All my decisions touch lives of people to help them and improve the quality of their lives. With XtremEarth products they can do it affordably and sustainably.

My biggest thing in life is to help.

CW What keeps you going day after day?

Yvonne I am a workaholic. The sheer excitement of getting closer to my goals gets me going and thriving each day.

Educating people in what this product with functional fibers can do for them in their everyday life is my goal. Once they know what it does, they make changes in their lives.

There’s so much do, I feel it’s just the beginning of my journey of helping people and improving the quality of their lives.

CW How do you celebrate your achievements, mistakes, and even failures?

Yvonne I celebrate by taking a vacation. It doesn’t have to be a long one. It may be just one day. But this time off allows me to step back and look at how close we’ve come and how great it feels in changing lives.

Looking at my grandson and teaching him about clean and fresh life feels fulfilling and refreshing. This company has made huge changes in the lives of my family.

Mistakes are celebrated by being acknowledged and moving forward without fear.

CW After a long day, when you close your eyes and reflect on the day, just before you go to sleep, what goes through your heart and mind?

Yvonne I feel thankful for blessings I was given. This opportunity, health of my family, and knowledge to be able to make right decisions, not just a ton of money make me feel happy and humble at the same time.
*****
The concept that my own clothes can stop harmful bacteria and microbes is facsinating to me. And it can be done. It is already reality of life, not just a concept. Thanks to women like Yvonne Busbee. Want to know what those products and product ideas are?
